Meaning

The birth participle τεκοῦσα occurs in Antaia's account of Eubouleus (XLI.8) and in Semele's lightning narrative (XLIV.5). Antaia is not named Semele in the first passage. In the second, the adopted active participle means having borne, whereas the reported τεχθεῖσα is passive, having been born; the change affects who undergoes the birth.
