Meaning
Dark Acheron holds Earth’s roots within Pluto’s domain at XVIII.10. The river is expressly named, unlike generic references to underworld water elsewhere. Its holding of the roots gives it a foundational place in the hymn’s landscape without turning every subterranean stream into Acheron.
