Meaning

The compound intensifies σεμνός in addresses to goddesses and to Silenos, the nurse of Bakchos. Reverence is shared despite their different functions. At XXVI.6 the apparatus reports πολύσεπτε against adopted πολύσεμνε: their senses overlap, but the distinct Greek formations should remain retrievable.
