English renderings
be present; attend

Meaning

Hekate is asked to be present at the rites, and Prothyraia is present in childbirth pains (I.9; II.4). The verb emphasizes attendance rather than the journey of arrival. The Muses’ παρῆτε belongs to a modal clause, “with whomever you may be present” (LXXVI.3). At II.4 the adopted παροῦσ’ ἀνίαις replaces reported παροῦσα νέαις, whose feminine plural is less explicit about the distress.
