- Heavenly; belonging to heaven
Meaning
οὐράνιος locates stars, flames, aither, divine powers, or effects such as an echo in relation to heaven. Hekate and the Kouretes are both heavenly and earthly and marine, while the stars too can be paired with earth-language. The adjective is therefore not always an exclusive spatial classification. For a lightning-shaft or heavenly covering it describes origin or location; for Nomos it belongs to his star-ordering sphere.
