English renderings
Alone; sole

Meaning

μόνος and the epic μουνο- forms intensify a particular hymn’s claim: Nike alone ends contest, Leukothea alone releases sea-doom, and Sleep alone rules all. Other uses mark a unique response, such as Hades alone hating Health or Death alone resisting entreaty. The assertion is real within its sentence, but the many differently addressed “alone” claims should not be combined into one exclusive divine ranking.
