English renderings
Grievous; dismal

Meaning

λυγρόν qualifies the water near the Moirai at LIX.3. Together with the dark lake and shadowy cave it makes the setting troubling. The apparatus attributes the printed adjective to Wiel and reports λευκόν, “white”; the adopted emotional darkness is not a neutral colour translation of that alternative.
