English renderings
Sleek; flourishing; comfortable

Meaning

Youth is λιπαρή at LX.8, while the old age sought from Persephone is λιπαρόν at XXIX.19: in both, physical flourishing shades into comfortable prosperity. The cave at LIX.4 is a contrasting material use, perhaps smooth or gleaming in its fair stone. “Prosperous” should not be transferred mechanically from human life to the cave’s surface.
