English renderings
look down upon; oversee

Meaning

The Fates, Eumenides, and Dike observe mortal life. Dike’s outlook is explicitly from heaven, whereas the Fates’ comprehensive observation is paired with Zeus’ knowledge. The verb can express attentive oversight without requiring every scene to share one physical vantage point. In LXX.4 the adopted plural address differs from the apparatus’s singular wording, fitting the Eumenides as a company.
