English renderings
loud-resounding

Meaning

Zeus brings forth resounding mountain ridges (XV.4), and Athena holds loud-resounding heights (XXXII.4). The compound's second element concerns sound, so high-rising alone misses part of the image. At XXXII.4 the reported ὑψαύχενας offers a different high-necked or towering picture, not a synonym to substitute silently.
