English renderings
watch; oversee

Meaning

The stars oversee seven luminous zones at VII.8, while the Erinyes watch the eye of Dike at LXIX.11. Both uses concern sustained divine attention, though their objects differ. At VII.8 the apparatus reports ὑφορώμενοι against adopted ἐφορώμενοι; a possible looking-from-below or askance nuance belongs to that alternative, not automatically to the stars’ printed oversight.
