grim, fearsome

Meaning

The Eumenides are called grim beside nocturnal and many-doomed descriptions (LXX.9). The edition separates βλοσυραί and νύχιαι against the reported combined reading βλοσυροννύχιαι. Its two epithets therefore represent an editorial division, not evidence that both words were independently transmitted.
