English renderings
cave; cavern

Meaning

The caves belong to different scenes: Pluto’s conveyance beneath Attica, the Moirai’s shaded recess, and the Erinyes' dark abode beside Styx. They should not be mapped into one universal initiation cave. At LIX.4 the apparatus reports dative wording where the edition prints genitives around the cave’s recess, so the precise spatial syntax is editorially shaped.
