Meaning
Ares is asked to redirect weapons' strength into agriculture; Pan changes beings' natures through providence; Proteus changes sacred material through manifold forms. In each occurrence the object specifies what changes and the surrounding construction how. These varied acts should not be collapsed into one technical doctrine of transformation.
