English renderings
ethereal; of the upper sky

Meaning

Ouranos and Nature are both described as ethereal alongside chthonic or sea-related powers; Zeus’s lightning-flash is ethereal at XIX.2. The adjective locates or characterizes their reach rather than directly naming the substance Aither. At IV.5 the apparatus attributes printed αἰθέριος to Schenkl against οὐράνιος, “heavenly,” a related but distinct adjective.
