English renderings
prayer; vowed appeal

Meaning

Dream’s beneficiaries may dissolve the rulers’ anger through prayers and sacrifices at LXXXVI.11. The same pairing appears in the plea to Death at LXXXVII.11, despite his stated resistance to supplication. Εὐχωλή therefore names an earnest mode of appeal, not proof that the requested relief is guaranteed or that a particular vow has been fulfilled.
