saviour or preserver

Meaning

The Prayer calls on great Saviours, explicitly described as Zeus's imperishable children (Prayer.21), while the Kouretes are saviours of the cosmos (XXXVIII.3). Asklepios is hailed as saviour when a good completion of life is sought (LXVII.8); Palaimon is the sole saviour within the immediate sea-peril description (LXXV.7). That local exclusiveness does not cancel the other saving gods named elsewhere in the collection.
