Tmolos

Meaning

Dionysos reaches Tmolos beside Hippa in the Sabazios hymn (XLVIII.4); in Hippa's own invocation the Lydian mountain delights her (XLIX.6). The place therefore links two passages through both movement and enjoyment. The Greek name Hippa and the supplied English Hipta need to be kept visible rather than treated as two different locations or companions.
