English renderings
show forth; appear

Meaning

Helios is asked to display a sweet life, while Dream shows what is coming and may reveal signs of evil. At LXVI.7 the cosmic limbs of Hephaistos themselves shine forth: the use is intransitive rather than showing an object. At LXXXVI.6 the adopted προφαίνων replaces reported προφωνῶν, shifting the image from prior speech to prior showing.
