English renderings
frenzy-loving or frenzy-bringing

Meaning

The Mother and Artemis receive the frenzy-loving epithet (XXVII.13; XXXVI.5). Athena's use at XXXII.9 is sharper: frenzy for the bad is opposed to understanding for the good. That contrast can give the adjective an active effect on its beneficiaries, which a uniform gloss fond of frenzy would obscure.
