Meaning
Ingression names entry or access into a subject. Subtiliation concerns making a body or its powers sufficiently subtle to act or be acted upon. Graduation of fire indicates a differentiated, proportioned use of the assisting agent. These words belong to an explanation of why a power already present can remain ineffective; they are not numerical instructions for furnace operation.
Use in the book
I.9 places the terms in an account of embodied spirit. Soul, spirit and body are distinguished, but not absolutely divorced. The soul forms or imagines; spirit receives and manifests that formative power in a body. In minerals the spirit can be oppressed or confined, so its seminal virtues do not display themselves freely.
The extracted mineral spirit is added to mineral matter and gains entry into imperfect bodies through art’s subtiliation and graduated fire. Art thus enables the spirit’s ingress and activity; the entering power and the bodies entered remain distinct. It does not create an entirely new universal power from nothing. The mineral subject manifests mineral seeds because its form has already specified the way the general power appears. The passage's restriction to mineral manifestations must not be expanded into a denial that the universal source has powers beyond minerals.
The three terms consequently form a conceptual sequence: a closed or obstructed subject requires access; access requires an altered fineness or receptivity; action must be accommodated to that subject. The text does not supply enough determinate information here to identify a particular material or reconstruct a safe procedure.

Translation
The English 'ingress', 'subtiliation' and 'graduated fire' preserve the work's technical register while leaving the material unspecified. Their proximity must not be made into a complete recipe. Equally, the earlier statement that soul and body are not absolutely separated is a real qualification of the operation: distinction of functions is not automatically the removal of one constituent from another.
