English renderings
Pastoral; of pasture

Meaning

Pan, the nymphs, and Silenos’s company receive νόμιος. Grazing land, goatherds, and the pastoral group establish the local meaning. It must be distinguished from νόμιμος, “lawful”: shared letters do not make Pan’s pastoral epithet a claim about statutory obedience.
