having watery paths

Meaning

The compound applies to sea and Oceanus, Clouds, Nereids and Nymphs, and even the moist air affected by Boreas. Watery courses are the shared image, but not every bearer is a sea deity. In the Clouds hymn the adopted ὑγρο- wording must be distinguished from the reported alternative rather than silently treated as unquestioned transmission.
