English renderings
gentle-handed; soothing

Meaning

The adjective makes Health a gentle-handed restorative presence, requested with prosperity and peace or accompanying Persephone’s flourishing. The elided ἠπιόχειρ’ represents an accusative in XXIII.8 and LXXXIV.8 but a dative in XXIX.18; the identical visible string does not imply identical case. The apparatus gives differing endings and, in XXIII, a prosperous-handed alternative. These forms should not be silently forced into one declensional pattern.
