English renderings
air-roaming

Meaning

Nymphs and west-wind breezes range through the air; Night plays in air-roaming pursuits; Notos holds an air-roaming privilege from Zeus. The adjective therefore qualifies both beings and activities or prerogatives. The Moon’s similar IX.2 epithet belongs to the separate feminine formation ἠεροφοῖτις. At LXXXI.1 the apparatus reports an ending and accent different from the verse; these do not securely establish another dictionary word.
