English renderings
originator, ancestral source

Meaning

Kronos is called originator while inhabiting every part of the cosmos (XIII.8). Notos is more specifically the originator of rain (LXXXII.3). The latter application shows that the title can describe the source of a natural process, not only an ancestor in a divine genealogy.
