nourisher

Meaning

The Kouretes are called nourishers and destroyers in the same line (XXXVIII.14). Their sustaining capacity is therefore paired with its opposite rather than offered as an exclusively gentle characterization. The plural τροφέες belongs to τροφεύς, a different formation from τροφός.
