Herakles is πολύλλιτος amid descriptions of fierce spirit and universal mastery (XII.4). The title characterizes him as the object of repeated or earnest entreaty. Its -λλιτος formation is not simply an inflection of the neighbouring πολύλλιστος, despite their shared practical meaning.
