much-besought

Meaning

Athena, Leto and Antaia are addressed as much-besought queens. In Antaia’s hymn the speaker’s own “I beseech you” immediately enacts the quality named by the epithet (XLI.9). The form πολύλλιστος should remain distinct from the closely related πολύλλιτος applied to Herakles.
