Meaning

Earth and the Horai are many-flowered, while Demeter’s many forms are themselves called πολυάνθεμοι (XL.17). The adjective thus attaches either to a goddess or to her manifestations. At XXVI.7 the adopted vocative πολυάνθεμε contrasts with reported πολυανθέσι, whose different form and attachment should remain visible.
