loving wakefulness

Meaning

The Moon and Silenos receive the wakefulness-loving epithet (IX.7; LIV.5), while Mnemosyne delights in waking as she reminds mortals (LXXVII.6). Vigil and alertness fit all three, but the cognitive setting of memory differs from the other invocations. The compound alone does not identify one particular all-night festival.
