Making cares forgotten

Meaning

At II.11 the birth-pangs are described as care-banishing “in” Prothyraia, a compressed statement of her relieving power. At LIX.20 the Moirai themselves approach initiates as care-forgetting or care-dispelling figures with kindly counsel. The latter epithet is printed against a reported λυσιπήμονες, which expresses release from suffering rather than forgetting it.
