Meaning

Concealment attaches to different subjects: Aphrodite herself at LV.9, Protogonos beside the paradoxical “all-shining shoot” at VI.5, and Dionysos at XXX.3 and LII.5. In the last passage κρύφιον qualifies his description as Zeus’s shoot. The adjective need not mean invisible in every setting; it marks something withheld from ordinary disclosure without specifying what secret account is intended.
