English renderings
female Bacchant; Bacchae

Meaning

The Bacchae accompany Silenos with the Naiads and take part in the Lenaian rites at LIV.6 and 9. The feminine forms identify female members of the Bacchic company, not individually named goddesses. At line 6 the apparatus attributes Βάκχαις to Dinner against βάκχοις, so the feminine identification there is a consequential adopted reading.
