English renderings
deathless; immortal

Meaning

Dionysos is addressed as a deathless daimon at XXX.7, and Adonis is deathless and holy in the Prayer and Aphrodite’s hymn. The shorter formation ἄμβροτος overlaps in meaning with ἀμβρόσιος and ἀθάνατος, but remains a distinct word. Its conjunction with “holy” gives two qualities, not one compound expression.
