Historical Definition
Artetiscus is a person who lacks a bodily member.
Meaning
This entry names a person through a bodily condition. It does not identify the absent member or say whether the condition was present from birth or followed an injury. The wording should be explained without supplying a causal history that the source has not given.
Its presence also reminds the reader that the dictionary covers more than substances and operations. Human conditions, professions and evaluative names occur beside material terms. Recognizing the grammatical role of a headword can resolve a difficult sentence before any further technical identification is needed.
