Historical Definition
Vinum essatum is wine impregnated with the virtues of herbs or anything else.
Meaning
Impregnated describes wine receiving the virtues of something introduced into or communicated to it. Virtues means powers or effective qualities in the historical vocabulary. Herbs are an example, followed by the broader phrase anything else.
Use in the Book
Vinum correctum has a different identification, the alcohol of wine. The present entry concerns what wine carries from another subject rather than simply its own rectification.
Cardonium offers a related herbal-wine term, defining a medicinal wine made from herbs. Vinum essatum is wider in its stated source, admitting herbs or anything else. The comparison distinguishes a particular herbal category from this broader account of wine receiving virtues.
Places to Read
Vinum correctum. A wine preparation referred to alcohol of wine.
Vegetabilia. Growing things described through rootedness and branching.
Cardonium. An herbal wine defined by its intended medicinal character.
In This Edition
The broad wording is preserved. It does not authorize a particular medicinal mixture or establish the effect of an unspecified ingredient.
