Meaning

Time and space are conditions of finite manifestation. The book describes THE ALL as unlimited by them, while allowing universes and individual lives to develop through immensely long durations.

Use in the book

IV includes infinite duration and extension among the source's attributes. V contrasts aeons in a created universe with a moment from the standpoint of THE ALL. VII repeats the contrast when describing an entire cosmic cycle as the twinkle of an eye.

VI preserves the effectiveness of the universe's laws, including time and space, for those who live within it. The imagined higher standpoint therefore does not erase the conditions of ordinary action.

In this edition

Time, space, and aeons are retained. Aeons marks a vast duration and is not assigned a fixed number of years by the editor.

Reading the argument

The contrast is a metaphysical description of standpoints. It does not offer a conversion factor between divine and human time or a calculable age for a universe. The imagery gives scale to dependence rather than supplying a cosmological measurement.
