Meaning

Aquositet and terrestreitet are Latin-derived quality words rendered ‘wateriness’ and ‘earthiness’. They describe what the main author says must be removed from the initially heavy, rough, tenacious, slimy and mistily watery matter. They are not automatically names of separable amounts of ordinary water and soil.

The same unit assigns a positive role to a universal sea-water and seeks the concealed heart and inward soul. Thus watery language can describe both an undesirable initial quality and a valued agent under another qualification. The English retains the abstract quality nouns, which helps prevent the passage from being mistaken for a simple instruction to dry dirt.
