Meaning

Vapour, mist and sweat describe the nourishment of the double mercury and Azoth from the highest and lowest, heavenly and earthly globes. The bodily image of sweat and the learned vapour phrase join cosmic regions through a feeding relation. They are not identified as three separately obtainable ingredients. The English preserves the threefold description and the upper/lower pairing, which would be lost by translating everything simply as moisture. The subsequent description of a penetrating spirit gives the nourishment a wider cosmological setting. This unit does not offer a safe method for collecting or handling vapours.
