Meaning

Sophic Hydrolith is the familiar reception title used by the supplied modern edition. Its historical German title is Wasserstein der Weysen. The Latin title Hydrolithus sophicus, seu Aquarium sapientum belongs to the work’s Latin transmission; it is not an additional string of German lexical attestations in the 1619 reading text. A shared work-title also does not guarantee identical appendices, illustrations or wording across printings.

The 1625 Musaeum is recorded as Latin. The 1659 English volume’s prefatory address invokes Böhme’s testimony in an epistle; it does not identify the Water-stone as that epistle. In the 1893 Hermetic Museum, Waite’s preface assigns translation to an unnamed gentleman and describes his own revising role. These are reception distinctions, not alternative source readings silently imported into the present German-based lexicon.
