Meaning

In the ethical description of Part I: entrance and preparation · unit 6, the supplied translation and note understand schlecht as simple, plain or without duplicity. Reading it only through modern German “bad” would reverse the passage’s commendation of the prepared practitioner. Related companion uses of simplicity and subtlety require their own contexts rather than that single ethical gloss.

The same note contains a separate discrepancy: n34 discusses vnsetzlich, while the supplied historical body prints vnschedtlich in the phrase concerning the neighbour. The lexicon retains the body’s exact form and explains harmlessness from that local relation. It does not silently replace the body with the annotation’s spelling or claim to have settled the original print by a new facsimile collation.
