The process-poem places rubificirt within the subsequent work after whitening and before its later completion-language. The learned word therefore denotes reddening as one named change in a summarized process, not every appearance of red anywhere in the volume. The aligned English “deeply reddened” conveys the intensifying phrase without identifying a modern substance. Its position in verse is useful for orientation, but the short catalogue cannot alone establish timing, sufficiency of a visual sign or a safe procedure. Via’s different explanation of reddening as making perfect is treated under Perfection and should not be silently substituted for this particular occurrence.
