Meaning

Joining first describes the affinity between Nature and a truthful, patient, steadfast and regenerated practitioner: nature finds and adapts itself to nature. The phrase concerns fitness of knower and known, not a literal fusion of bodies. Later, the prepared watery matter and the earthly solar body must be conjoined into one body. That material union is explicitly located at a later fermentation and does not cancel the earlier claim of one original matter. The English uses “adapt and join” for the first relation and “conjoined and made into one body” for the second. The varied renderings help keep ethical accord distinct from the work’s material conjunction.
