The exclusion of every foreign addition in Part II: matter and the work · unit 3 qualifies the single matter from which the stone is to be prepared. It is a strong statement, not merely a preference for few ingredients. Yet it must be read at its own point in the work: the later account introduces a closely related solar body for fermentation. The family on fermentation treats that later addition explicitly. The English preserves 'without any foreign addition', so an editor should neither delete the prohibition nor silently extend it to make all subsequent conjunction impossible. The source's stage-specific claims need to remain visible together.
