Eternal life is the desired setting in which the recipient hopes to behold in heavenly deed and truth what has been seen here in an earthly figure. The contrast is not simply between a short and an indefinitely prolonged earthly lifespan. It is between figurative apprehension now and the enjoyment of heavenly goods. The passage correspondingly devalues money and possessions beside wisdom, invoking the Book of Wisdom. The material art's alleged bodily benefits must not be promoted into a claim that the Stone itself gives immortality.
