Meaning

Rising, being awakened again, and glorification belong to both the material and theological descriptions, but their subjects differ. A newly risen body appears in the material work; Christ rises and ascends; believers await a general resurrection. The common vocabulary makes an analogy possible without proving that these are one event or one kind of body.

Use in the book

The main material account describes soul and spirit reunited with their body in a fixed state, after which a newly risen, living, perfect, glorified body appears. Its colour and tincture are praised as signs and powers of completion. The accompanying riddle tells a similar history of separation followed by reunion and a settled place in perfection. These are the author's philosophical descriptions, not evidence of biological resurrection in a vessel.

The theological account applies the pattern to Christ's passion, death, resurrection, and ascension. Christ is preserved and raised through the power of the eternal Godhead; soul and spirit are reunited with the body that died in the grave. The passage names fixation or union and then describes exaltation at the Father's right hand. The principal agent is divine power, not a practitioner who reassembles divinity.

The final general resurrection extends the image to believers. Their baptismal rebirth is expressly only a beginning of the second, wholly perfect new birth in eternal life. Body, soul, and spirit will be joined in everlasting union, and Christ's power will bring glory and blessedness. This distinction keeps present regeneration, spiritual dying during life, and bodily resurrection from collapsing into one moment.

Astonishment recurs in each setting. The material reunion is said to inspire fear and wonder; the final divine glorification is scarcely conceivable in this life and draws the angels' desire to behold it. The repeated affect marks the limit of ordinary apprehension. It does not make every wonderful appearance a sufficient proof of the theological promise.

Translation

The translation renders the material aufferwecktes as “newly risen” and uses “resurrection” for the theological noun, preserving the relation without forcing identical phrasing. The final passage's “only a beginning” is decisive: omitting it would make baptismal renewal already the complete eschatological event. Likewise the material riddle's return to a stable place remains an image of its own process, not a substitute biblical narrative.
