The circle is a ring-like appearance around the matter, not a geometrical diagram or a name for the whole vessel. It is described within the main treatise’s sequence of visible signs, with reddish and whitish qualifications. The English retains the spatial relation ‘around the matter’.
The surrounding sentence makes succession important: seeing the signs follow one another is called a good indication of a fortunate end. An isolated circle is therefore not declared sufficient proof of completion. Later reunion and fixation remain distinct claims. This localized visual term should also be kept separate from the cosmological circle of moonlight in the main treatise’s reported praise at Part III: benefits and their rank · unit 3.
