Fish-eyes describe the appearance of grains among the main treatise's signs in Part II: matter and the work · unit 22. The phrase is a visual comparison, not a demand for animal material. It comes at the beginning of the paragraph's ordered appearances, which the author calls a good indication when they follow one another properly. Isolating this shape from the surrounding sequence would overstate its diagnostic force. The aligned English 'grains like fish-eyes' preserves both the material subject, grains, and the likeness-marker; neither should be omitted in a lexical gloss.
