Meaning

“Whoever believes shall not flee” concludes the main treatise's quotation of Isaiah 28 concerning the tried and well-founded cornerstone. The verb rendered “flee” belongs to the assurance given to the believer, not to a description of volatile matter escaping a vessel. The surrounding argument proposes a bodily, visible likeness of Christ to assist human understanding and places that likeness beside earlier scriptural figures. The quotation therefore anchors the stone comparison in faith and stability. Its wording should be retained as the historical text's version rather than silently substituted with a different modern Bible translation.
